New Bass Music mix: Kongkast # 186 – feat. LOBO (4daz-le / Macau, China)

This week on KONGKAST, we are delighted to have this very special mix from one of the early pioneers of Macau / China Electronic Music scene – KONGKAST #186 featuring – LOBO (4daz-le / Macau, China).

Having met Lobo in Hong Kong many years back, we learnt very quickly that he is one of the leading figures of the Macau Electronic Music scene. From his earliesr days of hosting Radio shows such as Radio de Macau (TDM) and Radio Villaverde, playing what was underground back then, to running Macau’s only independent electronic music label in 2000 – 4daz-le, Lobo have paved the way for a lot of new music makers and DJs alike.

His first release was an experimental album “P.1C” on his imprint “4daz-le” with an alias ‘no.69’. The album was selected by the Hong Kong music magazine MCB as ‘one of the 20 best albums of the year in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan’.

In this mix, Lobo steps up with a very diverse mix of Bass music, with some well-known classics in the track listing, and a few much welcomed surprises.

Many thanks to LOBO for this exclusive mix! We are very happy to finally have this awesome mix from you!

    More info about LOBO:

Before turning himself into a proper deejay, Loboo was a radio disc jockey since he was 19. He used to host music programs in two of the radio stations in Macau – Radio de Macau (TDM) and Radio Villaverde. The music he played was mainly dance music – from jungle to tango, acid jazz to idm, hip hop to samba, just to name a few. His goal is to introduce the dance music culture to the Macau citizen.

In 2000, Loboo started to run the one and only independent electronic music label in Macau – 4daz-le. In the same year, he released his very first experimental album – P.1C under the label with an alias ‘no.69’. The album was selected by the Hong Kong music magazine MCB as ‘one of the 20 best albums of the year in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan’.
Besides being an independent musician, Loboo was also the vocalist and programmer in the well-known local band DR.

His milestone was sat when Loboo started to spin Drum&Bass and Breaks with his first mixer in 2006. It was not until then that he could call himself a ‘real disc jockey’.
