This week on KONGKAST, we are delighted to bring to you this exclusive mix by one of the hottest producers in the scene – MIKAL (Metalheadz, SGN:LTD, Utopia Music, Horizons / UK).

The last couple of years have seen Mikal rise through the ranks, with an impressive back catalogue on labels such as Metalheadz, SGN:LTD, Utopia Music and Horizons to name a few. Mikal’s inclusion in 2011 on the prestigious Headz ‘Genesis EP’ series and his first single ‘Lifts Me Up’ for Goldie; has earned him the title as ‘one of the hottest producers around.’ Starting this year off with DnB star Break, ‘Just A Game’ is, as you would expect, of an impossibly high standard. With ‘Nervous.’ simultaneously making a solid statement across the pond for US label Force Recordings.

Mikal is currently working on a couple of releases before finalising his hotly anticipated album for Metalheadz. With continued support from the drum and bass, dubstep and radio elite Mikal’s talent is going to be hard to ignore.

Many thanks to MIKAL for taking time out and showing us the sound he represents!

With an impressive back catalogue on labels such as Metalheadz, SGN:LTD, Utopia Music and Horizons to name a few.

The prolific producer cannot be defined by one genre or style. Whether it’s liquid, deeper, darker DnB or even dubstep, he has cemented his position across the board. Mikal’s 140bpm debut came when Goldie unexpectedly dropped ‘Higher Forces’ in his FabricLive 58 CD, catching the attention of Skream. Signing this and his next three tracks, ‘What You Know’, ‘Lost’ & ‘Sound Gonna Die‘ to his own imprint Disfigured Dubz.

Mikal is currently working on a couple of releases before finalising his hotly anticipated album for Metalheadz. No doubt there will be more, with the ‘What You Know EP’ further establishing his position as a versatile and incredibly capable producer. With 6 tracks released in the first 6 months of 2012 alone; several more penciled in for the latter half of the year and championed by the respective forefathers of DnB and dubstep, it seems Mikal can do no wrong. With continued support from the drum and bass, dubstep and radio elite Mikal’s talent is going to be hard to ignore.
