The Fourth exclusive mix for our FIVE Year Anniversary is here! This week, we hope to get you jumping off your seats with this very special Dubstep mix featuring – SEED (DETAIL Recordings, Ministry of Sound / UK)!!!

The high profile Dubstep duo Luke Holden & Terry Jennings aka Seed both hail from the south coast of England. Between them they have years of experience in production/djing and have played in some of the U.K’s largest clubs. Releasing on major labels such as Universal (UK & USA), Ministry Of Sounds as well as one of Kongkretebass’ favorite labels – Detail Recordings.

Since having heard their highly acclaimed remix of Lynx feat Kemo – Keep It Low, Kongkretebass have become huge fans of their music and productions. Detail Recordings invited Seed to remix another release (Lynx feat Sense – Rebels) that ended up as the B-side to the original and got rated 4/5 in ATM Magazine and was also used as the backing track for Relentless’ U.K BMX champion and friend Mark Webb.

About SEED:

Dubstep duo Luke Holden & Terry Jennings aka Seed both hail from the south coast of England. Between them they have years of experience in production/djing and have played in some of the U.K’s largest clubs.

Luke is known for his part as a UK urban outfit Dubwise and also many other releases and remixes within the urban scene for major labels such as Universal (UK & USA) and Atlantic. In 2008, Luke received his first gold disc for his work on a Taio Cruz project and is behind the creation of many of the top selling music production sample packs, some of which are still used today even by a wide range of producers all over the world including Skrillex. Terry has previously studied music technology and honed his skills at Airtight Studios, Chichester (UK) as a trainee sound engineer where he first met Luke. In late 2009 they both decided to get in the studio to collaborate and with completely different ways of producing, the formula seemed to work and Seed was born.

Their first release was a remix on the groundbreaking Drum & Bass label Detail Recordings of Lynx feat Kemo – Keep It Low that received 9.5 out of 10 in DJ Mag and has an amazing music video that still gets regular airplay on SKY Channel U/AKA. Happy with the success of the track, Detail Recordings invited Seed to remix another release (Lynx feat Sense – Rebels) that ended up as the B-side to the original and got rated 4/5 in ATM Magazine and was also used as the backing track for Relentless’ U.K BMX champion and friend Mark Webb.

Not resting on their laurels, their latest outing came via the duo getting huge props from The Wideboys and quickly resulted in them being asked to remix their track Find The Power feat Clare Evers. The result was a track that has destroyed dance floors all over the world, recently appearing on the hugely successful Ministry Of Sound compilation ‘Addicted to Bass’.

Stepping away from the mixing desk for a hot minute, Seed were approached by Panda Amsterdam to do an exclusive guest mix that has been voted the best ever Dubstep mix in their channels history with more than 350,000+ views. Seed are currently working on numerous projects with the likes of MC Fats, Double S, J2K and DJ Lynx including work to be featured on Lynx’s album set to drop in the coming months. With such an array of music waiting to be unleashed, 2011 is set to be a huge year for SEED.

Welcome back to KONGKAST! Here’s the third of our Special Five Mixes in Five Weeks series for our Fifth Birthday!

This week, we bring you the soulful jazzy sounds of an ex-Singaporean – DJ CLART (Fokus, Strictly Digital, IM.LTD / UK).

Hailing from the sunny shores of Singapore, Clart started Dj’ing, in Guildford when he was in university, with FD, Subterra and Tasha, then known as the Presha collective. Since going back to Singapore, he joined crews like InnerNation and SETUP. Hosting and supported the likes of DJ SS, Influx Datum, Lenzman, Evol Intent etc. Clart is also seen Dj’ing in London, New York, Poland, China and Malaysia. And currently hosts Nookie’s Atmosphere Radio Show on Lifefm.co.uk.

On the production front, Clart has many labels under his belt. Initially signed to Nookie’s the legendary Strictly-Digital Label as well as Including Digital Blus (Blu Saphir off shoot), Sole Recordings, Golden Orb Recordings and Liquid Brilliants, Fokuz, and not to mention Singapore’s very own QILIN Recordings.

About CLART:

Hailing from the sunny shores of Singapore, Clart started Dj’ing, in Guildford when he was in university, with FD, Subterra and Tasha, then known as the Presha collective. Coming back to Singapore, he joined the InnerNation and SETUP crew and ran 2 monthly Drum n’ bass nights, at Home club and the now defunct Coco Latte and Bar Baa Black Chic. Overseas guests for these nights, include the likes of DJ SS, Influx Datum, Lenzman, Evol Intent etc. Apart from Dj’ing in London and Singapore, Clart has spun in New York, Poland, China and Malaysia. Currently, he helps host Nookie’s Atmosphere Radio Show on Lifefm.co.uk.

Apart from Dj’ing, Clart also dabbles in production and has a few releases. Initially signed to Nookie’s the legendary Strictly-Digital Label, Clart has gone on to sign his techy/liquid/dubby hybrid sound to other reputable labels of that time. Including Digital Blus (Blu Saphir off shoot), Sole Recordings, Golden Orb Recordings and Liquid Brilliants. Shortly after that, He gained some exposure for his remix of Lupe Fiasco’s Paris Tokyo which was played on Fabio’s BBC Radio 1 show, and also a dubbed out version of “What you won’t do” which was rinsed on 1xtra and Mista Jam’s BBC radio 1 show. A collab with the mightly lenzman was also floating around on dub notably supported by LTJ Bukem.

Hot on this minor success, Clart signed and put out a 4 track EP on Peer Pressure Recordings in the US. He secured a release with Primo on Fokuz and his first vinyl release with Paul SG on Jazzsticks. Another 12″ followed later with MSDOS on Have a-Break recordings. Look out for more forthcoming 12″ and mp3s on Nexgen, Influenza Media, IM.LTD, QILIN, Vampire and Phuzion.

This week on Kongkast, an exclusive mix by Singapore’s very own CHERRY CHAN (SYNDICATE / SINGAPORE).

A Red Bull Music Academy 2010 in London attendee, Cherry has been making waves through Singapore and beyond.

Since picking up her music ears at the age of 19 in Melbourne, Australia, Cherry returned to Singapore with a bagful of tunes and pioneered the city’s first all-girl DJ night, PopMyCherry.

Since then she has played alongside leading electronica artists such as Four Tet, Moderat, Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus, StrangeLoop, Tokimonsta. Her debut track with Kiat – “Samurai Waltz” was selected for a music showcase program on BBC Worldwide during the RBMA stint.

Also known as the co-founder of Syndicate, the first audio-visual super collective in Singapore out to deconstruct and reassemble sound concepts & visual ideas with live performances & installations set in various spaces & contexts.

In 2011, Cherry will be performing at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival in Sete, France within the Syndicate Live showcase.

For those who are in Hong Kong would know that Kongkretebass’ DJ Wash have always enjoyed smashing the DisasZt tunes in the dance, and it’s no surprise we have been looking forward to DisasZt’s debut album on his own imprint – MAINFRAME RECORDINDS!

DisasZt first steps as a DJ back in the mid-90s has dedicated the last 15 years of his life to furthering drum & bass in his homeland and beyond, tirelessly DJing, promoting, running the globally respected label Mainframe Recordings, discovering and pushing Camo & Krooked and, of course, producing premium quality D&B alongside some of Europe’s very best artists.

Ten years after his debut productions began to make their mark DisasZt is now ready to release his debut album – ‘Shadow & Lightning’ – on his own Mainframe imprint.
