This week on Kongkast, we bring to you a future thinker from Brisbane, Australia – DJ Model T.

Model T is from the origins of the most southern state of Australia – Hobart, Tasmania.  Since relocating to Brisbane, he has supported some of the most respected nights such as Rudebwoyz, Junglettes, UDP and Wax Assassins, as well as supporting international artists such as Andy C, GrooveRider, DJ Friction & SP:MC, Pendulum, ShyFX, Teebee, Goldie & MC Lowqui to name a few.

This year, Model T is relocating to Kuala Lumpur to take up studies at Monash University, also taking his deejaying career to the next level in Asia, we have no doubt this future thinker will be one of the high flyers in the S.E.A.

With a career spanning 15 years Model T has played it all. Yet it wasn’t until his fateful encounter in late 1999 with Drum n Bass, that his true calling of the rolling bassline was found.

Originally hailing from Hobart and now residing in Brisbane, Model T has always pushed the boundaries of the Drum n Bass sound. From hard and techy dancefloor vibes all the way through to deep melodic rollers, and liquid funk with a hint of dub pressure – music for the dancefloor and the mind. It has been this openness in style that has seen him support some of the biggest names in Drum n Bass: Andy C & MC GQ, Grooverider, Aphrodite, High Contrast, LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad (6 times), DJ Friction & SP:MC, Pendulum (5 times), ShyFX, Teebee, Goldie (2 times) & MC Lowqui, DJ Patife & MC Cleveland Watkiss, DJ SS, A-Sides, Tech Itch, DJ Randall, Kenny Ken, Paradox (UK), The Upbeats (NZ), Concord Dawn (NZ), State of Mind (NZ), MPK (Adelaide), Patch (Adelaide), Ritual (Sydney), Greg Packer (Perth), Q-bik (Perth), SpinFX, K-Oscillate (Melbourne), Junglettes – Kim de la Haye & Angie Summers (Brisbane) … just to name a few!

Since relocating to Brisbane Model T has played for local crews such as Rudebwoyz, Junglettes, UDP and Wax Assassins. All this while keeping his local profile high making regular trips back to Hobart, playing support on Halo’s larger drum n bass nights.

From 2007-09, Model T was also the host of Flex Time, a weekly 2hr internet radio show on www.krankydigital.com.

In 2010, Model T is relocating to Kuala Lumpur to take up studies at Monash University, but hopes to continue DJing as the opportunity arises.
