This week on Kongkast, we have one of the best Drum & Bass Deejays in Australia – DJ PATCH (Adelaide, Australia)!

Patch is known and loved in Adelaide and Australia for his impeccable mixing ability and dynamic track selection. He has a reputation for “blitzing the touring internationals” and it has been said by many that “he is the best Drum N Bass DJ in Australia.”

This multi-award winning Deejay have received honours like ‘Most Popular Drum & Bass DJ” Award at the South Australian Dance Music Awards 2003/04/05/06 & polled in the top 5 (out of 5 South Australians) for inthemix.com.au Most Popular Australian DJ Poll 2005/06 – he was among only two dnb dj’s listed nationwide.

New Dubstep mix: Kongkast # 133 – feat. Red-I (Dub-Plate, B-Sides / Manila)

This week on Kongkast, we’re bringing you one of Manila’s most represented Dubstep DJ - Red-I (Dub-plate, B-Sides / Manila).

This multiple DMC award winner is heavily influenced by reggae and bass music, Red-I always keeps his dj sets eclectic. He is part of the team that brings the Dubplate party to Manila which has hosted Gaslamp Killer, Kode 9, Daedelus, Free The Robots, Tokimonsta, Nobody, D-Styles, Doshy, Shortkut, and RSD.

This week on Kongkast, we’re bringing you one of Hong Kong latest addition to the Dubstep scene – YAUMAN (Spain).

Having just arrived in Hong Kong a few months ago, Yauman has been seen playing for the Heavy Hong Kong crew in recent times. Armed with the more jump up side of Dubstep, Yauman has been providing some of the heavier side of Dubstep in the Hong Kong scene.

New Drumstep mix: Kongkast # 131 – feat. Conrank (Suicide Dub, Rankadank Records / UK)

Yes Yes! 恭喜發財!! KUNG HEI FAT CHOI!!! Happy New Year of the Rabbits!
Kongkretebass has been away from our HQ to take some well deserved break from it all in January, but we’re BACK! and we’re starting the year with a BANG!

This week on Kongkast, we’re bringing you one of the fast rising names in the drumstep world – Conrank (Suicide Dub, Rankadank Records / UK).

For those who are not familiar with the term “Drumstep”, it is basically half time Drum&Bass, with less drum hits, but usually at similar speed of a Durm&Bass Track.
But because it may have less drum hits, it’ gives the track more space, which can be similar to dubstep – hence: DrumStep.

Conrank hailed from London, currently residing in Shanghai, a dnb/drumstep producer with a fresh sound. With many years involvement in the music industry Conrank knows his onions; he was one of Europe’s top beat-boxers and had his own MTV show.

So far ConRank’s tracks have caught the ears of the likes of Nerm (BBC Radio 1) , Nike and Basher (Proximity Records) picking up various radio plays along the way.

“Here in Germany we love traditions. During Advent time we usually get so dizzy from all the lights and sparkle, mulled wine, gingerbread, cookies and snowflakes, that besides losing our minds we also tend to lose track of time. Which sucks, because who wants to miss the 24th of December?

So somewhere, someday in time, a couple of bright elves invented  the ‘Adventskalender’. What a bloody smart idea it was. It helped everyone count the days until Christmas. Weehee, such geenious! Everyone loved it, until a couple of kids started complaining about getting painfully bored just looking at numbers every day. “Well alright then”, the bright elves thought, “we will surprise them with really cool stuff every day too”. And that is how the “Playboi Adventskalender” came to be…”

New Dubstep mix: Kongkast # 130 – feat. Drunk Monk feat. Cha Cha (Sub-Culture, Shanghai)

Yes Yes! Kongkast is back just as you thought we had gone on holidays already!
To keep you all warm and fuzzy throughout this month of Giving, we’ve got a mix full of Dubs from two very respected Deejay + MC combination in Asia – Drunk Monk & ChaCha (Sub-Culture, Shanghai).

Drunk Monk is one of the key figures in the Dub/Dubstep Crew “Sub-Culture” in Shanghai, responsible for some of the biggest dubstep events in the China including Kode9, Distance, Pinch and many more.
ChaCha is the leading lady in Chinese MC. Having such a powerful voice, she has recorded with some of the most respected artists in the scene such as Kode9, The Bug, Vibronics, Desto and more.

Pushing the boundaries in their events, Sub-Culture, Drunk Monk & ChaCha has established them selves as one of the leading figures for dubstep music scene here in Asia.

New Drum & Bass mix: Kongkast # 129 – feat. Mako & Utopia Music (UK)

This week KONGKAST we have one of Kongkast favourite Producer/label once again  – the Bristol based UTOPIA MUSIC (UK) – represented by label owner MAKO.

It’s been a good year since we have had Mako on Kongkast. Since the last mix, Utopia has grew stronger with solid releases by BREAK, D Bridge, Mako & Andyskopes, Survival and The Sect.

With 2011 just ahead, Utopia has a string of big releases lined up for the year,  the label’s third release including BREAK’s – “Guilty Pleasures” and MAKO & SURVIVAL’s – “Freedom from Duality” to start the year, and furture releases by Villem, Fields, and Andyskopes, all within 2011.
So expect some serious goodness coming out from Utopia.

New Dubstep mix: Kongkast # 127 – feat. Zero One Breaker (Echelon Frequency, Subside, Future Dub / UK)

This week we have a very special Echelon Frequency Album preview mix by none other than one of Hong Kong’s favorite Dubstep producer – Zero One Breaker  (Echelon Frequency, Subside, Future Dub  / UK) – mix featuring tracks from his own album, as well as exclusives dubs from our local producers in Hong Kong and Brighton.

ZERO ONE BREAKER is a versatile producer who has already had a long and diverse musical career. Originally the lead songwriter, guitarist and vocalist in a live band during his teen years he went on to produce ambient downbeats for DVD soundtracks, notably on UK card trickster Daniel Madison’s ‘Lethal’ under the alias KASTOACHA.

Since his arrival in Hong Kong in 2005, Zero One Breaker have played a massive part in the underground Drum&Bass scene as well as Dubstep scene. Being one of the very first deejays here in Hong Kong to play Dubstep on a regular bases, local producers such as DJ Wash, Blood Dunza and Elemiz had learnt a lot from Zero One Breaker’s music productions.

New Drum & Bass mix: Kongkast # 126 – feat. Mark7 (5158 Records / Aus)

This week we have an exclusive preview mix by Mark7 (5158 Records / AUS).

Mark7 – the head  honcho behind the label 5158 Records (Australia) is no stranger to the media and big stages.
With regular club nights and big rave parties along side the greats in drum’n’bass.
During the mid 1990’s, Mark7 entered and won a Triple J Nation Wide DJ Contest. In the recent years, Mark7 has been co-hosting the “Rollerz” radio show (fortnightly rotation) on Fresh Fm 92.7.

Since 2000, 5158 Records has released 13 local compilation cd’s, with over 35 artists producing over 160 tracks since conception (Mark7, etheory, Skyver, Djon, Well Being, Fiction, Prewf, Hooligan Soul and many more). It was in that year that Mark7 was also nominated in the Lemon Ruski National Dance Music Awards as “Australia’s best new dj”. As well as being awarded with Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) prestigious “Encouragement Award” and awarded 5158 with  “Most popular local record label” up against other music genre’s at the South Australian Dance Music Awards.
