New Dubstep mix: Kongkast # 136 – feat. TMSV (Tube10, Box Clever / Netherlands)

Since having heard TMSV on DJ Distance’s Show on Rinse FM, Kongkretebass have familiar ourselves with his name and music very quickly.

Tomas Roels aka. TMSV – a dubstep producer and DJ from Utrecht, the Netherlands.
The tunes TMSV makes rely heavily on strong, low basslines and often include driving percussion and reverberating melodies, drawing influences on all kinds of music, such as dub, reggae, techno, metal, hip hop and classical.

His music has gained DJ support from the likes of Distance, Mala, Youngsta and Joe Nice. This has resulted in releases on labels such as Box Clever and Tube10 records and a nomination for Best New Producer in the 2011 Dubstepforum awards.

This week on Kongkast, we have one of the founding member of  the reputable Sydney Drum n Bass Crews  “No Frills” –  DAUNTLESS (No Frills / Sydney, Australia).

Relatively new to the game, Australian DJ/Producer Dauntless has been smashing dance-floors behind the decks for the past 8 years throughout Australia.  Leaning more towards the techier neuro side of the genre, his tune selection, dubs and overall skill is renown for keeping the dance-floor heaving.

Known for his production skills and love of technology, Dauntless also runs the website www.dnbbeats.com which shares information on producing Drum n Bass and receives praise from around the world for his simple and easy to understand approach to production.

Kongkretebass Presents: DJ PINCH (Tectonic / UK) @ Backstage, HK – Saturday, 2nd April 2011

Kongkretebass have brought you names like Truth, Goth-Trad, Kryptic Minds and Kode9, and now, Hong Kong’s bass music cultivators is back this April with another forward thinking booking!

On Saturday, 2nd April we will introduce to Hong Kong for the first time, one of the legends of UK Dubstep / Grime / Bass Music scene – DJ PINCH (Tectonic, Planet Mu, Swamp81 / UK).

DJ PINCH – The head honcho of the very well respected Dubstep label “Tectonic Recordings” is without doubt one of the biggest names in Dubstep. One of the true pioneers and innovators of the sound, he is producer, promoter and label boss. His Tectonic label is one of the longest running and most recognisable in the scene, releasing artists such as Loefah, Skream, Benga, Digital Mystikz and Joker to name a few and together with his own productions has helped define the sound we hear today.

There is no question that there are few bigger artists in the scene than Pinch and we are thrilled to have him appear for the first time here in Hong Kong. His sets across the globe has always left everyone speechless and in awe of what he had presented as the future of Dubstep, a glimpse of what was to come and what we would be listening to in the coming months and years. On April 2nd we again get that rare chance to see what the future holds.

Kongkretebass is extremely proud to be able to introduce one of the legends in the Dubstep scene to Hong Kong.

This multiple DMC award winner is heavily influenced by reggae and bass music, Red-I always keeps his dj sets eclectic. New Drumstep mix: Kongkast # 131 – feat. Conrank (Suicide Dub, Rankadank Records / UK)

Yes Yes! 恭喜發財!! KUNG HEI FAT CHOI!!! Happy New Year of the Rabbits!
Kongkretebass has been away from our HQ to take some well deserved break from it all in January, but we’re BACK! and we’re starting the year with a BANG!

This week on Kongkast, we’re bringing you one of the fast rising names in the drumstep world – Conrank (Suicide Dub, Rankadank Records / UK).

For those who are not familiar with the term “Drumstep”, it is basically half time Drum&Bass, with less drum hits, but usually at similar speed of a Durm&Bass Track.
But because it may have less drum hits, it’ gives the track more space, which can be similar to dubstep – hence: DrumStep.

Conrank hailed from London, currently residing in Shanghai, a dnb/drumstep producer with a fresh sound. With many years involvement in the music industry Conrank knows his onions; he was one of Europe’s top beat-boxers and had his own MTV show.

So far ConRank’s tracks have caught the ears of the likes of Nerm (BBC Radio 1) , Nike and Basher (Proximity Records) picking up various radio plays along the way.
